It has been a fantastic first term at Siddington C of E Primary. We have been thinking about what we are thankful for and the children enjoyed sharing their ideas with parents in the Harvest festival at St. Peter’s Church. They shared their poems and pictures and created a prayer space when they got back to school.
We have been working with a company called ‘BEST – be a better you’ who teach about mental health and wellbeing through sport. Some of our children also enjoyed a special afternoon with BEST as a reward for showing outstanding respectful behaviours.
Year 5 and (some) Year 6 children have taken part in ‘Bikeability’ and have learnt how to ride their bikes safely on the roads. They also learnt about keeping their bikes in good working order so that they are ready to ride on the roads.
We have partnered our year 6 pupils with our new Reception children and they have been helping them settle in. It has been lovely to see how well the year 6 pupils have taken this role on and to see the youngest children in our school settle in so quickly.
Miss Smith (our Science leader) worked hard last year to achieve the Primary Science Quality Mark. The school achieved this award in September with recognition of the impressive way the children can talk with such enthusiasm about what they have learnt in Science. They were also impressed with all of the opportunities the children have for enrichment activities in this subject. Well done to all the staff for all their hard work at promoting Science in our school.
