We have a new member of the Siddington C of E Primary School family… a hamster! I can’t reveal the name of our new friend yet, as the children will be making suggestions and voting for their favourite. The children will be taking turns in having the hamster in their classrooms and learning how to look after it.
Congratulations to our three district finalists in the Oracy competition ‘Look who’s talking’. One of our finalists, Lola, was even a runner up on the day. It was noted by other schools how our children were supporting each other and also congratulating pupils from other schools on their talks. Well done to them all.
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils are busy preparing themselves for the Mock trials, due to take place at the end of March. We came third in this inter-school competition last year. I wonder how our children will do this year? They have also had an internet safety talk from PC Leah that focused on the use of social media and gaming online.
Year 3 and 4 are preparing for their trip to the Roman Baths and all of our younger children (EYFS – Year 2) are going to Slimbridge Wetlands, Butterfly World and Westonbirt Arboretum.
To celebrate World Book day the children decorated a potato as a character from their favourite story. These included Gangsta Grannie, Elmer and the BFG. The children also had visits to their class from people who came to read them their favourite story. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time.
