the allotments

The Siddington allotments are one of those very special places where you find the mechanic alongside the local yoga instructor, the painter-decorator weeding next to the artist, each person working the earth and connected by a common passion for gardening, fresh air and harvesting home-grown produce. Pale stone cottages frame the rectangular site, both the geographical and spiritual heart of our Cotswold community.

Siddington Gardeners & Allotment Association is a friendly bunch of gardeners and plot holders with a passion for gardening. Join in the fun, meet other gardeners, and learn more about gardening. This new generation of gardeners is reducing its carbon footprint, getting healthy exercise in the fresh air, and growing wonderfully tasty (often organic) fruit and vegetables. The dynamic social calendar includes an annual plant sale; the Village Grow and Show; tidy days with tea and cakes; flower arranging at Easter and Christmas; allotment week; and get-togethers at the pub when seasoned members share hot tips and gardening advice.

Siddington Allotments have been around for over a hundred years. They belong to a land owner who lives in Cirencester. There are 24 plots, with 40 people working them. Water supplies have always come from the nearby brook. Over the years, some most ingenious ways of collecting water have been invented – it’s surprising what can be made into a water catcher!
